Changelog
Everything that's shipped, newest first.
v2.8.1
September 6, 2026Latest- Metric units — pick Metric under Settings > Appearance and BenchLog works in meters, m/s, °C, and millimeters: session weather, velocity strings and SD/ES, temperature-sensitivity charts, group distances and sizes, load velocities, the comparison table, and DOPE cards (true meter zeros, drops in cm). Data is stored in one canonical system, so switching back and forth is lossless and existing data is untouched. The Ballistics calculator tab and OCW/Ladder entry remain imperial for now.
v2.8.0
September 6, 2026- Bullet library — 1,250+ bullets from Barnes, Berger, Hornady, Lapua, Nosler, Sierra, and Speer with published G1/G7 BCs. One click fills the name, weight, and BC in a load recipe, and your own bullets and proven loads rank on top. Switching BC model swaps or blanks the value so a G1 number is never mislabeled as G7.
- Powder library — 135 canister powders with burn-rate class and typical applications, searchable by cartridge. Fills the powder name only; charges always come from published load data.
- Brass lifecycle tracking — per-lot firing counts with an expected-life meter, a one-click "+1 Firing" button, and a last-prep note on every brass lot.
- Structured session weather — temperature, wind speed, and wind direction fields on range sessions, shown on the session card.
v2.7.1
September 6, 2026- Automatic updates — BenchLog now checks for new versions on launch and can install them in place from Settings > Updates. This is the last version you'll ever have to download by hand.
v2.7.0
September 5, 2026- Low-stock alerts — set a threshold on any component or box of ammo; the card gets a ⚠ Low badge and the Dashboard lists everything running short. Range sessions draw factory ammo down automatically, so alerts trip on their own.
- Printable DOPE cards — every load recipe with a velocity and BC can generate a drop table (drop, MOA, MIL, and remaining velocity at 25-yard steps out to 1,200 yds) with selectable zero range, and print it as a clean card.
v2.6.0
September 5, 2026- Barrel life tracking — set an expected barrel life per rifle and watch the meter fill as you log sessions; amber at 75%, red at 90%, with a one-click reset when you re-barrel.
- Cost per round — price your components and factory boxes; BenchLog computes what every handload and factory round costs, on the cards and in the Load Comparison table.
- Real analysis charts — OCW, ladder, and temperature data on proper line charts with hover values and your best node highlighted.
v2.5.0
September 5, 2026- 12 themes — Hunter, PRS, Midnight Chrono, Desert Tan, Brass & Walnut, Copper Solid, Tungsten & Bronze, Carbon & Crimson, Kestrel, Night Vision, and two light themes (Arctic, Benchrest). Pick yours in Settings > Appearance.
- Chronograph CSV import — pull velocity strings straight from Garmin Xero and LabRadar exports; m/s converts automatically.
- Visual polish — aligned numerals in every data table and dozens of small display fixes.
v2.4.1
September 5, 2026- Ten bug fixes for the factory ammo feature, including inventory drawdown corrections, safer session editing, stricter caliber matching, and per-firearm analysis grouping.
v2.4.0
August 23, 2026- Factory ammo everywhere — log range sessions, chronograph strings, and group data against factory boxes, and compare them side-by-side with your handloads. Sessions draw rounds down from the box automatically.
v2.3.0
June 6, 2026- Optics purchase records — purchase date, store, and receipt attachments on Optics and Firearms; SFP/FFP on rifle scopes.
v2.2.0
June 2, 2026- Optics catalog — a standalone section for scopes, spotters, binos, and rangefinders, with mounted-on links to your firearms.
